I’m helping a friend vibe code his startup. Here’s the short I recorded about it, and what it taught me about where people still fit in.

We’re all at risk of being replaced by AI, but there is one hi-tech job that is not.

My friend asked me to help vibe code his application. Seriously, what could be simpler? Just open Lovable and do it yourself. But that didn’t work for him. And then I understood why: his application was really complex and the scope was huge.

We sat together for a couple of sessions to collect the requirements. We focused on finding the MVP, so we scoped a lot of things out. Then Claude Code created a design. We reviewed it together with my friend, and this is how we iterated. Only after a couple of weeks did we start the development, which took almost no time.

I didn’t feel like a developer in this project, but rather a business analyst. As long as you have precise requirements, the development is done by an agent. But you still need a human to translate vague customer ideas into precise requirements.

AI can’t simply get into our heads. Yet.

The startup is Basteq, an AI assistant that turns a bathroom renovation into a step-by-step plan with a budget. Try it out yourself: basteq.com
